Yesterday I had a moment. A moment of being perfectly content, as though all was right with the world. {of course I was allowing myself to be in the present and not thinking about all that is wrong...}

It was that perfect time of day: late afternoon on a Saturday in the autumn.  It was dusk and the world was still, as though pausing between the activities of the day and the forthcoming activities of the evening.  Our house was calm and quiet: Daniel was asleep in the basement and Liam was content snuggling with me as he had just finished breastfeeding.  There was pumpkin chili simmering on the stove and the amazingly delicious smell of brown basmati rice was wafting in the air.  Finally, the playlist I had put together for Liam's birth was playing the tunes of James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Marc Cohn and Crosby, Stills & Nash.

I thanked God for these small, yet immense blessings.
