Oscar Wilde once said, "Life imitates art far more than art imitates life." Well, whichever side of the coin you look at, last night we saw a movie which imitates life, specifically life as referred to in my last post. Away We Go, directed by Sam Mendes and starring John Krasinski and Maya Rudolph, is an entertaining film that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. With moments of hilarity and moments of deep universal pain, anyone can relate to this movie on many levels. Sub-plots involving miscarriages, divorce and death of parents struck a chord with me, as such situations are the sources of "the sadness." The all-star cast, who depict all levels of humanity-selfishness, despair, insanity, humor, passion, loneliness, love- do so with brilliance and charm.
Thouh the opening scene was a bit gratuitous and there is some coarse language and humor, we felt, overall, that this movie was worth seeing. 4/5 stars.
